Provides professional nursing leadership and administrative direction for the practice of nurses at Canton Health Center. Assists the Health Center Manager, Medical Director, and Nurse Manager in planning and managing patient care services. Participates as a member of leadership teams to provide and continually improve health care services and to support the mission and goals of the Health System. Provides direct patient care, including telehealth nursing, for patients of General Pediatrics, General Internal Medicine, Medicine/Pediatrics and OB/Gyn approximately 50% of time.
Manage, supervise, and coordinate nursing staff for Canton Health Center. Plan, assign and review the work of nursing staff. Counsel and evaluate the performance and clinical practice of nursing staff. Hire nursing staff in collaboration with units' leadership teams. Oversee the orientation, competency assessment and professional development of nurses, and, as indicated, of assistive personnel. Provide leadership for the development, implementation and evaluation of standards of nursing practice and interdisciplinary clinical guidelines. Assist the Health Center Manager, Medical Director, and Nurse Manager in determining adequate complements of staff, scope of staff roles and appropriate workload. Work collaboratively with the Health Center Manager, Medical Director, and Nurse Manager to identify and resolve unit operational problems and process improvements. Implement Hospital and University policies and procedures. Represent the unit on assigned clinical area and Health System committees. Provide leadership for compliance with Federal and State regulations and regulatory standards regarding affirmative action, safety and patient care. Provide leadership to staff in understanding and applying quality improvement principles and adoption of evidence-based changes in practice into daily work. Facilitate the education of health sciences students. Provide direct patient care to health center patients, including telehealth care.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. Required Educational Requirements- applicant must meet one of the following: * Bachelors of Science in Nursing OR * Associates degree or diploma in Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing. Five or more years of progressively responsible nursing experience. Evidence of demonstrated or potential leadership ability is required, including charge nurse, team leader or other leadership experience. Demonstrated ability to promote professional working relationships with outstanding communication skills and demonstrated advanced leadership skills. Demonstrated team building, conflict resolution, decision-making and problem solving skills. Two or more years in a nursing supervisory or management position. Two or more years? experience in a primary care healthcare setting. Two or more years? experience in an ambulatory care setting, including clinics, physicians? offices or similar setting. Broad clinical experience, including pediatrics, internal medicine and OB/Gyn Experience working with a variety of roles, including RNs, LPNs, advanced practice nurses, and assistive personnel. Experience in telehealth nursing. Master?s Degree in nursing or related field Demonstrated leadership in professional activities. Certification in Ambulatory Care Nursing. Knowledge of and competence using electronic health records.
