Purpose of Job: The purpose of the Registered Diagnostic Sonographer is to utilize high frequency sound waves, provide diagnostic images of a wide variety of exams (Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, Small parts,! Breast, Neurosonography) in order to help diagnose the absence or presence of disease. Responsibilities: Analyze disease processes with the use of ultrasound through the selection of appropriate procedures and techniques; coordinate past and present medical history of patient in reference to ultrasound examination; schedule and instruct the patient in reference to ultrasound; review current imaging techniques and interpretations to assure current information; furnish occasional immediate results to appropriate medical personnel derived from ultrasound procedure; perform basic equipment maintenance and quality assurance; compile a daily log of patients; provide assistance and guidance as needed to Non-Registered Sonographer; serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health Systems Customer Service Behavioral standards of performance by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve; demonstrates knowledge and respects the patient, service ! provider, organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security pr! ocedures and protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures; follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information; maintains and protects patients rights under the HIPAA Privacy Standards; and performs various clerical and related duties as assigned. Working Conditions: Long hours of standing and positioning transducers to assemble necessary medical information; movement of patient to and from carts as well as positioning for demonstration of anatomical parts; frequent lifting, pulling and pushing of patient and equipment; lifting up to 25 pounds; moderate exposure to blood and body fluids; use of latex 80% of the time; constantly (76-100%) exposed to latex environment. Requirements: Graduate from an accredited ultrasound school; registered with the ARDMS or ARRT-Sonography; X-ray experience preferred; must be able to demonstrate the ability to select and use appropriate transducers; must be able to dem! onstrate the anatomy accurately; must be able to demonstrate measurements reflect; able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in her/his assigned service area as related to the principle duties and responsibilities of the position, which may be gained through education, training or experience.
Will work various shifts and locations to accomodate a 24/7 department, holidays and on-call required.
