SUMMARY The Downtown OB/GYN Office of Advantage Health is looking for a part-time, non-benefit eligible Medical Records Coor! dinator to work 24 hours per two week pay period. The schedule will vary and is part-time. All of the hours will be within M-F, 8a-5p.

Assumes complete responsibility of accurate, organized patient charts. Files charts and medical record documentation accurately and timely to assure that charts are complete, readily located and available as needed. Copies and encloses appropriate reports for referral letters. Performs release of medical records and obtains necessary signatures to protect patient rights. The work of a Medical Records Coordinator could be performed in either a paper chart or an electronic health record (EHR). QUALIFICATIONS Education Minimum - High School graduate. Preferred - Previous medical office training.

Experience :
Preferred -One year of experience in a medical or physician office. Basic business office and computer skills. Proficient in medical terminology. Knowledge and skills to assess and release protected patient info! rmation according to federal and state laws.

Minimum :

Skills with the ability to comfortably interact with diverse populations. § Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with a strong customer-service orientation. § Good organizational skills in order to work under time constraints and be able to adapt to medical situations. § Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner. § Ability to demonstrate competency with a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including a basic understanding of email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required performing the essential functions of the job. § Knowledge of general clerical/off! ice procedures with the ability to maintain accurate records. § Ability to manage competing priorities and work under tight deadlines. § Must be able to adjust working pace to flow of patients. § Must be able to type at least 30 adjusted words per minute.

§ Proficient/knowledgeable in medical terminology. All actions are rooted in providing excellent customer s! ervice. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS § Prepares patient charts for upcoming appointments. Makes charts for new patients, verifies appropriate information is in the chart for next day’s appointments or enters information to be part of the patient’s medical record (EMR/paper), and obtains missing information. Converts old charts as applicable. In addition, begins the process of completing forms for patient visit and retrieves tickler file of information (if appointment was made two weeks prior). § Assures appropriate signatures, then logs, files and scans various forms, letters and other communications. § Files or scans charts and medical record documentation in a timely manner and in the appropriate area of the chart to assure that charts are accurate, readily located and available as needed. § Performs release of medical records and obtains necessary signatures. Coordinates medical/legal issues in the release of medical records and stays current on medical/legal issues. Noti! fies Practice Leader for requests for release of records to facilitate ! discussion regarding Risk Management. Ensures appropriate charge capture for copying of medical records. Ensures appropriate coordination of medical records being copied by Healthport. § Documents messages accurately, legibly, and completely and then routes to appropriate person. § Responds to all patient interactions professionally with tact, patiences, and compassion. § Mails authorization form for release of medical records to patients when requested. § Participates in daily team huddes as requested. § Participates in office/quality performance initiatives. § Performs other duties as assigned.
