Position: BHC/IMH Therapist - Labor and Delivery
Supervisor: IMH Supervisor
Program : Behavioral Health Services
Location : Inkster,
MI
Status: Full-time 80 hrs/pay period
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To work as a member of a team with program
staff and community sources to provide a continuum of services to young
children and families in an effort to strengthen and preserve families, assist
in identifying individual needs, and provide and assist in coordinating
services to meet each individuals needs. The position will be housed in a
medical setting and the position will be a member of the OB/GYN team and/or
partner with Labor and Delivery departments.
EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Masterâs
degree in social work, psychology or other related human service field
required.
Registration/licensure
as a social worker, counselor, or psychologist in the State of Michigan
required. Certification preferred.
Infant
Mental Health certification, endorsement or waiver required for 0 â" 3
population required upon hire or within 3 months of employment.
At
least one year direct clinical experience in providing therapy services to
young children and their families preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Must
have reliable mode of transportation and m ust possess a
current valid State of Michigan chauffeurâs driverâs license and automobile
insurance that is insurable. Must meet SFS and our insurance carrier guidelines
for the transportation of children/ clients.
Basic
knowledge of adult mental illness and child development required.
Good
assessment skills.
Willingness
to provide group interventions required.
Ability
to demonstrate commitment, caring and respect for children and adults from
diverse backgrounds whom have multiple needs or problems.
Ability
to work cooperatively and responsibly as a member of a team with colleagues,
supervisors, agency staff and collateral contacts.
Ability
to develop treatment plans and coordinate needed services to fulfill plans.
Ability
to role model appropriate child-handling techniques to parents and staff.
Development
and implementation of Individualized Plan of Service utilizing Person Centered
Planning.
Ability
to make critical decisions independent of immediate supervision.
Knowledge
of community resources and linkages.
Experience
with multiple major human service delivery systems (FIA,
public health, education, etc.) preferred.
Knowledge
of theory and practice of individual, group and family systems treatment.
Competence
in the delivery of crisis intervention services and in brief and time-limited
therapy.
Must
be computer literate.
Good
understanding of child development, parent/child dynamics, common childhood
behavior problems and appropriate interventions.
Ability
to effectively, appropriately, and accurately communicate both orally and in
writing.
Ability
to meet productivity expectation as assigned by program supervisor.
Ability
and willingness to abide by all Starfish Family Services confidentiality
policies.
Ability
and desire for personal and professional growth, and skill development.
Ability
to demonstrate compassion and sensitivity and to respect the privacy and
special needs of our clients.
Ability

Must

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide
comprehensive assessments and treatment planning with measurable objectives.
Provide
support and crisis intervention with families and children involved with the
program.
Assist
in coordination and referrals of support services to parents.
Provide
Infant Mental Health services in the home environment
Meet
client service hours requirements
Provide
parent education and guidance.
Work
with the OB/GYN and/or Labor and Delivery team to coordinate overall health and
wellness for clients
Work
cooperatively as a member of a team with program staff and community resources.
Participate
in monthly marketing and outreach activities, develop referral relationships
with other agencies and maintain those referral relationships.
Provide
programming and mental health training to other professionals.
Maintain
client files in order and up to date for the 0-3 program.
Submit
timely and accurate documentation of services, billing data and required
paperwork
Provide
client transportation as needed and appropriate for case plan
Responsible
for working with team members, supervisor, child, families and community
contacts in a manner that is conducive to the philosophy and mission of the
program and agency.
Participate
in individual and group supervision
Participate
in on-going personal and professional development including in-service
training, peer review, external workshops and seminars.
Accept
and emulate the mission of SFS.
Assist
in finding and directing clients in case of an emergency such as a fire or
tornado .
Cooperate
in any investigation related to personnel, licensing, accreditation or other
circumstances.
Attend
all agency and departmental meetings and training as required.
Adhere
to all Lifespan policies and procedures as it relates to documentation,
productivity, training requirements, CMH guidelines, and confidentiality .
Perform
other related duties as assigned by supervisor or other management.
